Week 4

I know I didn’t post a week 3 update. Not much happened.

I spent a bunch of time last week helping get a quarter section surveyed for a new water system. Exciting stuff. Otherwise the usual moving of goats, sheep, pigs and cows to fresh forage ground. I helped corral a Hereford bull to get medicated for foot rot. Don’t worry, he’s pretty tame and he’s smaller than your average bull.

Oh, the other intern, Colin, left early Tuesday morning. He is missed. The work is more toilsome by yourself than when someone is around to share in the frustrations and the laughs.

I leave you with some pictures of what my mornings look like out here in the middle of nowhere:

When I first saw the pic of the res. I wondered if it was stocked and if so , what kind. I then thot it would probably be bass. Twould be tough to have all those fish and no time to fish! The next thing that caught my eye was the house which didn’ look too shabby for a bachelor pad. I think Elaine and I started out in worse quarters and look how we made it. I liked the sunset but wondered who got up early enuf to catch the sunrise in such a nice scene? Your lovin Grand parents Jim & ELaine

That’s actually just a shed in that picture. I’ll take a picture of the house I’m living in this week. It’s a nice four bedroom farmhouse. I don’t think that the reservoir is stocked. I think it’s more a watering hole for cows but hasn’t been used for that in a while.

I know what ya mean about the buddy leaving. My buddy at the bakery had to go back to school on August 19 (so early!). Scone and cookie making are not the same. Has it been hot out in the middle of nowhere?
